What this map is
The NIH SBIR/STTR Funded-Pattern Map is a primary-source data asset describing which NIH-funded SBIR/STTR projects fall into which technology areas, which Institutes and Centers administered them, which FOA routes they came through, and which review panels appeared on those records. It is descriptive of historical funded records. It does not predict review assignment, scores, or funding outcomes.
Data sources
- NIH RePORTER API v2 (funded project records, FY2023–FY2025)
- Public CSR Small Business and Technology Transfer study-section pages
- Public eRA meeting rosters linked from CSR pages

Monthly for the first six months of operation, then quarterly. FY2026 policy status is re-verified within 7 days before any publication.
Limitations
- RePORTER includes funded projects only, not unfunded applications.
- Counts are labeled as fiscal-year records, unique core projects, or funded competing records.
- Roster snapshots are meeting-specific and temporary.
- Technology tags are a controlled Cada vocabulary; see the glossary for definitions.
